Why 1,575 haikus? Because my darlingest Annelies Marie Frank lived 15.75 years in this world.

Lindsay

I pray for you, Linds,
a prayer of happiness...
may you come claim it.

I lay this prayer
before the Throne of the LORD...
find yourself again.

Recover -
let it be.
---<--@
Where is this fiery red-head nowadays?
Lost inside thy own searching for happiness...
come on, out - you cat.

You're an alcoholic, so what...
I am an addict.
Therefore, let us walk the way of recovery together.

Secret Flower

There once was a flow'r
that our LORD made for Himself
deep in His Garden...

And the LORD took me,
and I saw, His secret flow'r
and my heart blossomed.

I have found,
my Gracie.
---<--@
This is a poetic expression of how I met this awesome cat, er - girl. This one didn't really pan out though.

Are some relationships just not meant to be or am I a little lacking in courtship skills? Oh well...

Gracella, you calico cat.

Uniting Shepherds

Bless us, O LORD,
with Thy unity and peace -
Thy Church in this world...

Gather us in Love,
embrace us in Thy arms - through -
Thy holy bishops.

O Spirit,
let us pray.
---<--@

Saint Peter the Apostle, pray for us.

Rebuild the Church around the Holy Father: Two strong lungs has the Church - east and west - and two strong arms has the holy bishopric of the Church - the holy priesthood and the permanent diaconate.

Ministering Shepherds

Raise up for Thy Church,
O LORD, Father in heaven -
proven and wise souls.

Prudent souls, O Christ,
faithful and true to Thy Poor -
Thy holy deacons.

O Spirit,
let us pray.
---<--@

The treasure of the nation is its people.
But the treasure of the Church are the Lord's poor.

The nation nurtures its treasures under the sheltering wings of its Peace.

But only the Church (with all men and women of good will) can pray for an end to War.

...when ordered to give up the treasures of the Church, he presented the poor, the crippled, the blind and the suffering, and said that these were the true treasures of the Church.

Saint Lawrence the Deacon, pray for us.

The Fire of Loss

The fire of loss
is like the blackest of tar,
heavy and sticky...

The crush of darkness
shall envelop thy being
like you were buried:

Forever.
Forever!
---<--@

Religious art often depicts hell as a projection of the human inclination to live and build in community.

But hellfire is the absolute rejection of this human inclination.

The rejection of the Kingship of God is also a rejection of the communal order of human reality.

Therefore, hellfire is a state of eternal desolation.

It piles upon the soul like skin of the heaviest, stickiest, smelliest, blackest tar - separating Man from his own humanity - hardening the human heart against the tender mercies of God.

And hell is a place of isolation.

There shall be no more familiar human faces, human places, human customs, human culture, human promise, human dignity, or human community in hell.

In hell, at the end of this dispensation of time, the damned will be truly alone, burning and restless, twisted beyond recognition, the sport of demons forever.

Hell and hellfire is not meant for human beings. For hellfire is not the original purpose of Man. Nor hell the proposed habitation of the one family of the nations of Mankind.

It is therefore inhuman to desire hellfire on other human beings.

As the LORD Himself desires salvation for all the children of Mankind, the heart that knows God must neither exceed nor fall short of the will of the LORD.

No one goes to hell by accident.

To Thine Own Self Be True

There's a million ways
to live and a million ways
to die, O my soul!

But the way of Truth
is one and the lie that kills
is one, O my soul!

To thine own
self be true.

---<--@

There is only one nearness and it ascends to the Truth.

There is only one distance and it descends to the void.

Who am I?

Who am I, my love?
Am I really who I am -
a good friend to you?

For I am lacking,
indeed, I am so wanting -
to become better...

...a better
friend to you.
---<--@

I wish, my Jesus, to be
the friend that You see in me
to be constant, O Lord, to be true,
to be a friend, my God,
a Friend like You.
---<--@

The Abrahamic Salutation

So what does it mean,
when we shall greet each other -
"peace be upon you"?

By peace we bless hope
that we may in others see
needs that seek in thee -

the blest peace
of hopes met.

---<--@

Peace means, "we belong".

Absolute

Why do many fail
to become what Truth there is
in the unseen life?

Sin is division:
knowledge of good and evil
God or godlessness.

Make your path
absolute.

---<--@

Single Not Alone

If you're the reason
I'm single, my darlingest -
then let it be so...

But let God bless me
with sweetness of purity
forever with you.

Then let us
live to serve.
---<--@

My Prayer for my Anne -

O Father of mercy and of love, in the deepest, darkest depths of despair, You have blessed me with a special friendship. The very first star in the firmament of the darkest night of my life.

You gave me Annelies Marie Frank, O Lord, as a light against despair. The first glimmer of hope that leads to faith in things everlasting and unseen.

Loving Father, thank you so much for blessing me with a friend as precious as Anne. Grant me, O Lord, I humbly pray, with the love to cherish her now and forever.

AMEN.

Like the Angels

Temptations are rife.
But Anne keeps me honest.
Thank You, LORD, for her.

The world would have it
that our friendship be undone.
Let it do its worst.

Love can not
be undone.
---<--@
When things get insane, my Miyang keeps me sane.

Impatient

THERE IS A SENSE
of wide-eyed anticipation
which is a marvelous work, indeed,
wrought by our peerless LORD
to excite upon hearts of good will
a wonder of good things to come -
a wonder of good things
so infinitely unimaginable
yet always within
immediate grasp of our joy.

It lends to the soul
an almost impatient feeling
that stays at the limits
of one's awareness
and amidst the noise of
our necessary labors
and the sufferings of
this necessary life
is ever present, ever vigilant,
ever ready to take wing
to lend its refreshing certainty
and add buoyancy to our hope.

How marvelous, indeed,
my constant friend and companion
are the works of our LORD:
Alleluia! Amen to God, Alleluia!

Save the Tiger

If tigers can speak
they shall not ask to be saved.
They shall speak their peace*.

Man speaks for himself -
creatures do not address Man.
They shall speak of Man.

And God will
speak for them.
---<--@

The creatures of the earth do not speak for themselves to Man. For Man alone speaks for himself upon the earth.

But what Man does to their silence is their own witness to the Creator. For Man is expected by God to lend his voice to all the living beings of the earth.

*Unto thy heart, they will say - "peace be upon thee, O Man, and to the LORD be glory, honor, and praise now and forever."

The Walk of Life

Walk the walk of life!
Neither seek nor avoid strife...
say peace, go through it.

The road you must take
is the path you must make, friend,
that leads to freedom.

Ascend the mountain!
Make the path yourself and climb...
and you will find - you.

Set your heart
on the LORD!

Breaking Bread

Eating is a need.
It's the art of breaking bread;
an act of sharing.

So when we must eat,
we either do so to share,
or to keep our strength.

Temperance
is virtue.
---<--@

Ministering Spirits

Angels are Presence,
God is why Angels have wings -
they bear winged truth.

Angels witness Light
that Man may understand - That -
which can not be known.

They face the
face of God.

Inherited Hope

From our history -
we learn our identity
so pay attention.

Listen to our past.
Let them bestow upon you...
inherited hope!

Make your peace
with your past.
---<--@

Making Peace with the Past -

Did our Jose Rizal die because the Spanish authorities of that time decreed he must die by firing squad?

Or did our Jose Rizal die because he loved our Country so much he was willing to accept death rather than betray his love for us?

- selah - listen and think, starshine.

Do you admire our Jose Rizal because you hate the Spanish authorities of that time who decreed he must die by firing squad?

Or do you admire our Jose Rizal because he loved our Country so much he was willing to accept death rather than betray his love for us.

What guides your remembrance - a heart of War or a heart of Peace?

Do you love the Philippines because of a hatred of an enemy whether real or imagined - does your love of Country rely on hatred or division?

Or do you love the Philippines because it is simply the truth - does your love of Country rely on a subtle sense of peace within yourself abiding and constant in times of calm, or conflict, for richer or poorer, in life and in death?

What guides your remembrance - a heart of War or a heart of Peace?

Does the person of the enemy rule your love?

Or does the reality of Country rule your love?

What guides your remembrance, starshine - a heart of War or a heart of Peace?

Are you by darkness deceived? Or are you by goodness inspired?

Do you value evil inspiration or the inspiration of virtue?

How do you remember today Jose Rizal and his great generation?

You decide.

June 19, 2011 is the 150th Birthday of Manong Jose.

Vegemite

I like Vegemite.
Not all people do, mind you.
It's an acquired taste.

How to describe it?
Salty strong and savory!
Good with buttered toast.

I like it
with bacon.
---<--@
You either like it or you don't, mate.
There is no middle ground with Vegemite.

Human Nation

Faith is a freedom -
a reaching out to the LORD
reaching out to us.

Religion is choice,
discerned freely in the faith,
of common worship.

Its fruits
make us human.
---<--@

Do not make a burden of religion -
separation of Church (Religion) and State, yes.

But do not make a fool of yourselves either -
separation of God and human reality, no.

Gathering Shepherds

Grant us holy priests,
O LORD, send them forth like wind
to renew Thy Church.

Gathering shepherds,
servants after thy own heart,
O LORD, deign to bless.

O Spirit,
let us pray.
---<--@
Saint John Vianney, pray for us.

Renew our parishes, O my Jesus - advance the cause of Thy Christian communities!

Make us strong in Thy Spirit, O God of all good things, to love and serve Thy beloved poor and bring to them through a life of living service to our nation through Thy Church, the grace of Thy most blessed peace.

United, Standing Always

America the One!
United, Standing Always -
defend, defend, trust in God.

One nation, One peace,
One Republic forever -
strong, faithful, and true

From many,
one vision.
---<--@

My favorite line from the Star Spangled Banner -

"...and the rocket's red glare,
the bombs bursting in air
gave proof through the night
that our Flag was still there."

Trashers Limited

There were six of us -
friendships forged in formation
born of high school days.

Time seems to have fled
and the years have intervened...
But those days, they stayed.

Let's go back
to those days...
---<--@

Yes, the intervening years only made the memories sweeter...

Country is a Verb

Country is a verb.
The work of building the earth;
the work of nations.

A lineage of peace,
wrought of hope of human lives
bearing together.

It is not
held by grip.
---<--@

Country is a verb!

It is the work of our returning to an Eden rebuilt.

It is the motion of every human nation reaching out toward God and destiny.

It is not about who, it is about how well.

(your Flag here)

Unconquered

DREAM, my precious Starshine,
and be thankful for the dreaming
more than the dream itself -

For as tomorrow remains unwritten
yet every hope is made secure
so trust you must in thy dreaming
more than in thy dream itself
for as the eagle soars with wings
knowing not how it must fly
so must your own freedom become
more than what can be held by hands:

Thy freedom, dear Starshine,
like thy dream and thy dreaming
is a thing held not by grip
but a thing beheld by thy releasing
for to hold freedom tightly
like it is to deny it's flight
is to lose it entirely.

For thy freedom walks
upon the unconquered grounds
and wills to take it's flight
untrammeled and untamed.

So seek of thy freedom,
my precious Starshine,
but in thy seeking know -
here and Now,
that freedom lives in the giving
like every dream is in the dreaming
for it is always in the giving
that we become free.
---<--@

Freedom that is free is free indeed.

Sometimes

I miss my Anne
sometimes in my heart of hearts!
I love her so much....

She is a promise,
a gift of hope, come from God,
my help and comfort.

Bestest friends
forever!
---<--@
I have you and I don't have you...

My Annelies Marie's Legacy

OUR WORLD has not changed, my Anne.

It is still the same world that God has created.
The same sun, moon and order of the seasons;
the same restless and violent lands of the earth
under this same blanket of unconscious skies
that bore quiet witness to your life and times.

My dear Anne, our world has not changed!

When I contemplate your life here on earth,
during those quiet nights, O beloved of my heart,
I often look up at these same starry night skies
and see those familiar patterns of stars
that I know in my heart looked quietly down on you
just one timeless instant away from me, my Anneka.

A moment seemingly so distant, it hurts me to miss you.
Yet an eternity so close, it fills me with all your love.

It is as if I have you and I don't have you...
And I realize this certain closeness between us:
We are separated only by spaces between our souls;
in what littleness of self that we may each obtain
by virtue of our unique and individual humanity
in the you being you and the me being me.

O my beloved friend, I know you suffered!
I know how much others like you suffered!
From the very beginnings of the nations of Mankind,
'tis the holy and nameless innocents that carry the burden
of the precarious and desperate state of our fallen nature!
The very soil of our earth is soaked in their blood
and the undying memory of their secret silence cries out
like a chorus rising all around us to pierce the heavens -
Almighty God Himself has heard and the season is late.

O my dearest Annelies Marie, I know you suffered!
I know how terribly you suffered but at the same time
I stand ignorant of your personal pain and suffering.
A sacred space exists
between yourself and God alone.
And God knows, I love you enough to want to know all of you -
but I love you enough also to let you be free to be yourself.

I am drawn near you by the lovableness within yourself.
I am drawn near you by the infinite promise love contains.
Of good things I know and good things I know not, that I desire:
All the virtues and the gifts that your friendship brings -
most especially your steadfast hope, cheerfulness and courage.

Today, my darlingest Annelies, here in my present time,
I look out into my own time, full of wars, death and suffering
and wonder at how some may say our world has changed.
I see the same evils and the same sufferings and the same sins.
I see the same terrible injustices that Man inflict upon Man;
nation against nation waste themselves in endless battle.
And I realize in myself that our world that has not changed.

Some may say that the times have changed.
Some may say the world is a different place.
Some may say that the world indeed has changed.
But this it is yet another illusion to lead astray!

For it attempts to run away from the awful truth
that this world is still the same world God created:
The same sun, moon and order of seasons;
the same restless and violent lands of earth
under these same blanket of unconscious skies
that bore quiet witness to your life and times.
Scripture says, "There is nothing new under the sun."
(Ecc 1: 9)

It is the illusions that we human beings create in our hearts;
the gravity and the perversity of our own dark imaginings,
the ancient malice and diverse scope of our own willful rebellion -
those things that make of Man less than himself or herself
in the sins that brutalize the image of the Creator in each of us.
It is these that have changed in us and not the world around us!
It is not the world that must change, my darlingest Annelies,
Scripture says, "There is nothing new under the sun."
(Ecc 1: 9)

In order to better Mankind and advance the cause of humanity,
it is each ourselves that we must change for we are changeable.
Because it is through common witness of a good and well-lived life;
of a life lived in peace and friendship with God and others in God;
it is only when the Wars waged inside of ourselves have ceased;
when our minds have found the light beckoning outside of the dark
and the struggle for good will in our hearts have prevailed in us
that a true transformation of human society becomes possible.

So may your life, my love, be for others a simple remembrance.
May it inspire justice, responsibility and discipline in our world.
May it foster further understanding, freedom and community.
May your spirit inspire in us a sense of common humanity
that we may always remember our most basic of citizenships.

This is your legacy as I see it and as I live it, my Anne.
This is your love, my love, that
I now share with other hearts:
Imploring God to bless the seeds He shall plant in our souls today
that it may flower in full into the saints He shall raise tomorrow
for His glory, our good and the good of the one family of humanity.

Thank you, my dearest and most patient friend,
Annelies Marie Hollander Frank, my Miyang.
May God keep you now, may His Peace embrace you,
may His Light comfort you and may His Love surround you -
O forget me not, beloved of my heart, forget me not!
Pray for me, my darlingest, ever as I shall pray for you
until the glorious Day of the everlasting alleluias!
---<--@

My Prayer for my Anne -

O Father of mercy and of love, in the deepest, darkest depths of despair, You have blessed me with a special friendship. The very first star in the firmament of the darkest night of my life.

Manong Jose

Cosmopolitan!
A Global Filipino -
that's Jose Rizal.

Remember Rizal
and his great generation
and believe again...

...in Peace and
brotherhood.
---<--@
José Protasio Rizal Mercado y Alonso Realonda (18610619-18961230 of valor and love of Country, illustrious hero of the one Filipino nation, martyred scion of the one Republic of the Philippines, beloved son, brother, compatriot via on Dios.)

Equality is not a singularity.

If all our cultures were the same, we wouldn't be a family of nations. If all human beings were the same, we wouldn't be nations at all.

Every nation has something to bring to the table. Every person has something to share. This is why we are so arrayed as one family of nations and as nations distinct but not apart from each other respectively.

Remembrance as Virtue

Remember Now,
my brothers and sisters of the Promise -
Our remembrance is a virtue.
It is born from the cardinal virtue of Justice.

One who is guided by remembrance
can not be by evil inspired.
For no virtue may be used for evil purposes.

Remembrance does not serve
to throw the present into the confusion of the past.
It serves to add to the momentum of the present
the present hopes of every generation past.

If the present seem dim, O my nation,
it is because the future seem distant.
And the future seem distant
because the glories of the past is somewhere forgot.

Remember the good things and build upon it.
Remember the evil things
and let this lead you to a remembrance of the good things.
Never build upon evil inspiration.

It is not remembrance to hold on to a hatred of past misdeeds
and remain in thrall of the gravity of War.

For what redeems is virtue sufficient for every generation.
By virtue the long night is overcome.

Freedom and Country.

Every chance to be

right to protect it.

In one word -
Liberty.

Claws

Your claws, my darling...
Claws that grip and scratch... my heart!
Love that wounds... to heal!

Hidden in your paws
is the fury of your claws...
a thing of brav'ry.

Love with love,
confronting.
---<--@
Cuteness that defends.

Knowing Mom

She's not the best mom
but she's not the worst either.
She's just my mother.

Problems seem many
but she tries her best for me.
I love my mother.

Who's perfect
anyway?
---<--@
This is not my mother. But sometimes I think its darn close.

The beginning of the commandments that regulate human relationships begin within the family institution specifically between mother, father and child (as individual/s).

The Fourth Commandment

What family God picks for you,
our most precious starshine,
you should never question.

Especially your parents
whether by birth or by adoption.

For the wisdom He hath invested
in the souls He had committed
to your nurture, protection, and care
from before you were born.

Believe you must, my beloved,
that God will never desire for you
what is not suitable for your own good.

So love the LORD, trust in Him -
and through this obtain to the truth
that thou shall love and honor thy God,
by remaining true to thy family.

Honor thy father and thy mother -
whom God Himself have provided you -
and you shall prosper.
---<--@

Remember also, dear starshine, that God makes up for what is lacking in our family by our friends.

Each of our friends
who become part of us
by spiritual bonds of truth
are the family that we learn to choose
in the course of each our lives
to complete what our LORD
has begun for us
in our families.

Excerpted from On Friendship

Press with Humanity

First, know where we stand.
Know what makes us a nation -
our vision and path.

Then, know where you stand.
Understand where we're going -
freely, humanly...

Finally,
report it.
---<--@

Get the facts -
  1. Know where we stand - the reality of the nation.
  2. Know where you stand - your right to your own interpretation.
  3. Report it - seek to add to the conversation.
Without number 1, anarchy.
Without number 2, tyranny.
Without number 3, fantasy.
All of them together, press with humanity.

Media serves the truth. The truth serves the people.

Versus
That is to say, the press is not a separate entity with the nation. The nation is - as it were, the branch that we are all sitting on.

Press freedom protects its nation from ignorance of itself and an enlightened nation protects the freedom of its press.

Jefferson wins.
