Storming the Fortress

T'was the longest day -
D-Day upon the beaches,
storming the fortress!

Hail the remembrance!
That greatest generation!
Lest Peace be forgot.

Remember
ye the names!

67 years ago, the face of our world was changed on the beaches of Normandy.

It was D-Day - June 6, 1944

Today we remember that day and the change it had wrought in our behalf and ask ourselves how much of it have we forgot.

Today is D-Day.

So let thy sacred remembrance hold its eternal vigil over thy peace.

And preserve in each thyself, all you generations from times and places near or far, a constant memory of this sacred and abiding trust.

Lest we forget, lest we forget.
